International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) starts are electrically controlled switches used to rapidly open (break) and close (make) a circuit. Similar to National Electrical Manufacturers' Association (NEMA) starters, IEC starters are much smaller and can provide quicker detection of overload conditions.
Enclosed housings are designed to ensure that the motor is never disconnected from power during starting. Ideal for frictional loads and prevention of electrical shocks and dust.
Three-phase refers to three individual lines (coils) that connect to and run voltage through the motor. Each line alternates in a sequence as they reach their voltage peak. They provide a more stable flow of voltage and more horsepower to the equipment.
Non-reversing starters are designed with one phase line that connects to and runs voltage through the motor. The starter is used to turn a motor on and off.
